Gentle Yoga Series

Experience how mindfulness, movement and breath work can help you feel better and age well. Gentle Yoga with Colleen is designed for those age 60+ and open to everyone

What: Six sessions: Thursdays, August 18, 25. September 1, 15, 22, 29 (no session September 8th).

When: 11am-12pm

Where: On Zoom OR in person at Good Karma Studio. You also receive links to the videos of each session to use throughout the series.

What to expect:

Movement

  • Begin to increase mobility with regular practice. Learn movements and poses that you can do at home

  • Learn safe techniques to get up and down from the floor

  • Begin to build strength with regular practice. Learn where your weaknesses are and how to gain more strength.

  • Become more confident with movement.

  • Learn various ways to practice and improve balance and agility

  • Learn how mindful movement can help create new brain pathways, decrease stress and keep you safe.

  •  Learn techniques to help relieve back pain and how to work with chronic pain

  • Reduce tension

Philosophy

  • Learn some of the basic philosophy of yoga

  • Enhance your understanding of why yoga works

Breathing

  • Learn how breath is related to core strength

  • Improve your breath efficiencyLearn various breathing techniques to help with stress, fatigue and feeling calm.

  • Link breath with movement to increase a sense of presence and awareness

Mindfulness/Centering

  • Learn techniques to increase body and mind awareness 

  • Gain greater self-acceptance and self-care

  • Learn techniques for reducing stress, anxiety and depression

  • Increase confidence
